Valkyrie Productions

What We Do

Valkyrie Productions creates original, immersive opera-theatre in Rhode Island’s historic spaces. Each performance blends live classical music, original scripts, and site-specific staging to make opera accessible, meaningful, and unforgettable.

Why It Matters

In a state rich with history but underserved in classical performance, we bring back the intimacy, mystery, and beauty of live theatre. Our productions give paid opportunities to emerging artists while filling a cultural niche that’s been left behind - uniting audiences of all ages through shared stories, music, and place.

How We’re Different

Every Valkyrie production is built from the ground up: original scripts inspired by local history and folklore, curated scores featuring opera and art song, and performances staged in historic community spaces. We combine the timeless craft of classical performance with the excitement of immersive theatre, inviting audiences not just to watch a story, but to step inside it.

    DIRECTOR

Meghan Thomson is a Rhode Island soprano, playwright, and entrepreneur. She graduated from the Royal College of Music in 2023 and founded Valkyrie with a vision for creating performances that celebrate classical music, local identity, and old-fashioned storytelling. She splits her time between running Valkyrie in RI and pursuing her Master’s at Carnegie Mellon. When she isn't singing, you’ll find her lost in a book, definitely lost in a museum, and exploring by the sea.

  • PRODUCTION MANAGER

Ashlyn Banno is a Rhode Island native with a background in performance and a sharp eye for logistics. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island( and former theatre kid), she brings administrative expertise and creative flair to Valkyrie. Offstage, she dedicates her time to supporting her neighbors as a community action agent. On the weekends, you can find her grabbing iced coffee in East Greenwich with her boyfriend, and documenting the life and times of her cat, Chicken.
